PROJECT OVERVIEW

Dare Valley Country Park is one of Rhondda Cynon Taf's leading tourism attractions. It comprises over 500 acres of parkland, a visitor centre, guest accommodation, 35 pitch caravan park and 60 pitch campsite from Phase I improvements.

Coach Park improvements included

• Increased the number of disabled and parent and toddler spaces nearest    the entrance to the Visitor Centre.
• Provision for a number of 53 x seater coaches which could be utilised by    mini buses if required.
• Provision for three additional minibuses and or DVCP vehicles
• Car park lighting
• Car park signage (fingerpost provision)
• Clear space allocation markings throughout
• Boundary wall utilising (where not cost-prohibitive) recycled materials,    i.e. existing stonewall panels
• Clear access/exit point(s) for vehicles as recommended. No gates    required.
• Turning/manoeuvrability areas for large vehicles
• Incorporation/expansion of existing CCTV system.

Enhanced access from Aberdare Town and within the Park:

• Removal and replacement of bridge access to and within the Country    Park
• New bridges designed to cater for cyclists and DDA requirements
• Links to current urban regeneration proposals for the town centre
• Consideration of link from the Cynon Trail and the Cynon River Valley Park    under Urban Regeneration proposals

Climbing Wall:

• Purchased portable climbing wall for use by qualified instructors within the Park
