WECAN - work package 3
‘Visitor payback’ approaches are a specific mechanism for developing and achieving (financial) relationships between a local community and visitors who come to experience the natural heritage in the area
Through visitor payback initiatives, hikers, cyclists or horse riders can contribute to the economic growth of a region. Appropriate schemes for post-industrial regions will be developed. After their effectiveness was tested, guidelines for implementation in other regions were created.
Green Loyalty Card schemes
The major action in this work package was for partners to collate and review information on existing relevant visitor payback initiatives in Europe and further afield. Boondoggle were commissioned by RLKM on behalf of WECAN to develop innovative potential digital visitor payback schemes. Our Belgian partners are currently implementing a digital pilot scheme, which will be evaluated.
To complement this, we devised a number of Green Loyalty Card pilot schemes at Valleys Regional Park aimed at benefiting businesses, residents, and visitors.
