The Valleys Regional Park
Parc Rhanbarthol y Cymoedd
The project took place between Pontypridd & Porth enhancing access to Rhondda Heritage Park and Barry Sidings Countryside Park.
It provided an alternative link for pedestrians and cyclists through a wooded green corridor adjacent to Rhondda river between Pontypridd and Rhondda Heritage Park at Trehafod.
There was a focus on Barry Sidings Country Park improving an ‘access for all’ route and connecting paths and links as well as upgrading the car park layout and separating cyclists and pedestrians from vehicular traffic.
The project also involved the improvement of green corridor route and environs from Pontypridd (Maesycoed) to Barry Sidings Countryside Park including associated drainage, fencing and signage works.
There was upgrading of existing main stone dust surfaces to tarmac or a similar surface as well as a parallel walking route and stepped side access links which received minor attention.
